Lyveden in Northamptonshire

DSCF5052.JPG lightroom

After a very rainy start to the day yesterday we set off to visit Lyveden, a National Trust property in Northamptonshire. We wandered by ourselves with a very informative (and free) audio guide before joining a guided walk (again free) of the gardens at 2pm led by one of the volunteers. Our guide was fascinating with a wide knowledge base, maps, plans and photographs to share and an understanding of what the National Trust had done and what they were planning to do. She obviously loved Lyveden and her passion was infectious.

The son of Sir Thomas Tresham, who built Lyveden, was involved along with his cousins in the Gunpowder plot. Another local interest story.
